A trekking tour from the Ouzoud waterfalls along the El Abid river towards the north offers an active experience in the fascinating landscapes of the High Atlas. Passing the village of Taounza, the river meanders through the impressive mountains in the southwest until you finally reach the imposing El Oudiane Dam. Here, an impressive view of the lake surrounded by majestic peaks awaits the participants. The route continues north through the mountains and ends in the picturesque village of Afourar. With breathtaking views and unforgettable cultural experiences, this trekking tour is an ideal active vacation.
Upon arrival in Marrakech, we will transfer you to the hotel so you can rest or explore the lively and colorful city. Later, we all meet for dinner over a delicious tajine and discuss the week ahead.
: In the morning, after a hearty breakfast, we leave Marrakech and travel by private transport to Azilal, a small town in the Atlas Mountains. There we will check into our hotel and you will have free time to explore the town and visit the dinosaur statue built to commemorate the establishment of the M’Goun Conservation Area.
From Azilal, we will travel by private transport to the Ouzoud Falls, where we will set up camp at a traditional Berber campsite and enjoy the breathtaking views of the falls and the river. If you wish, you can dive into the fresh mountain water or rent an inflatable boat to explore the waterfall more closely.
The next morning we will start early and continue our trekking tour following the El Abid river north and then east, through an untouched gorge, with the possibility of seeing some Barbary macaque monkeys. After about 11 km we set up camp by the river and spend the night under the stars.
The next morning we continue our trekking along the river and its green, lush banks, in stark contrast to the dry mountains around, to the village of Taounza. There we spend the night in a local guesthouse and get to know the friendly locals…
Today we hike into the mountains to the south, following a dry riverbed. We set up camp for the night at a remote mountain site and enjoy the breathtaking views and fresh mountain air.
: From the mountain camp to El Ouidane Dam, we continue our trekking tour and round the mountains to reach El Ouidane Dam. There you will spend the night in a hotel and enjoy the impressive view of the river and the dam.
: From El Ouidane Dam to the northern mountains, we continue trekking north across the mountains and spend the night under the stars at a remote mountain site with spectacular views of the surrounding area.
From the northern mountains to Afourar we continue the trekking tour to the village of A-fourar, where you can spend the night in a hotel and enjoy the charming atmosphere of the village while exploring its unique sights and sounds.
From Afourar to Marra-kesh, we return by private transport to Marra-kesh where you can explore the city’s lively markets and cultural attractions before continuing your journey to your next destination.
